Today marks the 1st Anniversary of Blog by Boethius. Going Live was posted one year ago on July 8, 2024. At that time, I invited you and others to join me in better understanding the role of philosophy in teaching theology. I continue looking forward to sharing future posts with all of you during the upcoming year.
In the previous paragraph above, I reference time in three ways: 1) Past, 2) Present, and 3) Future. The past is last year. The present is this year. The future is next year. Here time is referenced in a linear fashion much like we envision a timeline.
←Past–Present–Future→
However, I also reference time in ways that make it 1) Annual, 2) Recurring, and 3) Calendrical. Annual means every year. Recurring means repeated at regular intervals. Calendrical means every twelve months. Here time is referenced in a circular fashion much like we experience seasonal cycles.
Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter
By observing the anniversary of Blog by Boethius, we are participating in time as both linear and circular. While we add an additional year to each successive anniversary, we also come full circle by commemorating the original event. We will explore this concept further in the next post on time as profane and sacred.
